On 21st May 2025, Diet Studio in collaboration with COTHM, successfully organized an engaging and informative session to commemorate World Hypertension Day. The event aimed to raise awareness about the growing concern of hypertension, often termed as the “silent killer,” and educate students and professionals on effective prevention and management strategies.
The event featured an interactive session led by Dr. Bilal Ahmad, a renowned health expert, who shared detailed insights into hypertension. He highlighted the rising global and national statistics related to high blood pressure and its severe implications on cardiovascular health. Dr. Bilal emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, regular monitoring, and lifestyle modifications in controlling hypertension. He also engaged the audience with a Q&A session, making the discussion both interactive and impactful.
Following Dr. Bilal, Mr. Mansoor Ali, Head of Sales at Route2Health, took the stage to shed light on the role of dietary supplements in managing hypertension. He explained how evidence-based supplements can support heart health and reduce blood pressure when used alongside a healthy lifestyle. Mr. Mansoor Ali emphasized that while supplements are not substitutes for medical treatment, they can be powerful tools for support when used responsibly under professional guidance.
The third speaker, Miss Ayesha, Food and Nutrition Supervisor at COTHM delivered a practical and informative talk on the role of nutrition and diet in reducing hypertension. She presented healthier alternatives to high-sodium foods and recommended incorporating potassium-rich fruits, leafy greens, whole grains, and low-fat dairy into daily meals. Miss Ayesha also highlighted the need for reducing processed food intake and encouraged the use of herbs and spices in place of salt to enhance flavor without increasing sodium content.
The event was well-attended by students from the nutrition department, who found the session valuable for both academic and personal health awareness. The session concluded with an open forum where participants could interact with the experts, ask questions, and gain clarity on misconceptions related to hypertension.
