Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sardar Ali Amin Gandapur, along with Advisor for Tourism & Archeology, Zahid Khan Shinwari, has approved a series of landmark projects aimed at preserving the province’s cultural heritage and promoting sustainable tourism. These initiatives will be implemented under the World Bank-supported Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Project (KITE).
In a high-level meeting chaired by the Chief Minister and Advisor Shinwari, it was decided that multiple development and conservation projects would be undertaken across the province, with a strong focus on historical and archaeological sites.
According to the Tourism Department’s spokesperson, the approved projects include:

Upgradation of museums across KP – PKR 295 million

Development and preservation of Babu Dheri (District Swabi) – PKR 45 million

Restoration of Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor’s ancestral homes (Peshawar) – PKR 33.8 million

Beautification and renovation of Rani Ghat (District Buner) – PKR 40 million

Provision of modern facilities at Takht-e-Bhai (District Mardan) – PKR 30 million

Upgradation of security and safety at key archaeological sites – PKR 220.59 million

Development of Gali Bagh (District Mansehra) – PKR 35 million

Improvement of Koh-e-Suleman tourist site (Dera Ismail Khan) – PKR 155 million

Restoration of Sheikh Badin heritage site (Dera Ismail Khan) – PKR 190 million
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Gandapur emphasized the global importance of KP’s cultural legacy. “Preserving our heritage while creating economic opportunities through tourism is a top priority of our government,” he said.
Advisor Zahid Khan Shinwari remarked, “With the World Bank’s support, we aim to revolutionize the tourism sector in KP. These projects will transform cultural landmarks into premier destinations for global travelers.”
Work on these projects is expected to commence soon. The initiatives are designed to enhance tourism infrastructure, attract both domestic and international tourists, boost the local economy, and generate widespread employment opportunities.
