Pakistan and Uzbekistan Strengthen Silk Road Tourism Partnership

In a significant step toward enhancing regional tourism and cultural cooperation, Managing Director of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Mr. Aftab ur Rehman Rana, visited the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad and held a productive meeting with His Excellency Mr. Alisher Tukhtayev, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan.

The meeting focused on expanding bilateral tourism collaboration and reviving the historic Silk Road through stronger connectivity, cultural exchange, and joint promotional initiatives. Both sides discussed a range of opportunities, including the promotion of Silk Road tourism, improved air connectivity between the two countries, media partnerships, influencer exchange programs, and participation in the upcoming Silk Road Festival 2026 scheduled to be held in Islamabad.

During the meeting, Mr. Rana presented a special coffee table book featuring the rich tourism landscape and iconic destinations of Uzbekistan. The publication serves as a symbol of friendship and tourism cooperation between the two nations and is based on photographic documentation captured by participants of the Pakistan-Uzbekistan Motorbike Rally led by Mr. Mukaram Tareen last year.

The Ambassador warmly welcomed the initiative and appreciated efforts aimed at strengthening tourism diplomacy and people-to-people connections between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to promoting regional tourism, preserving shared cultural heritage, and creating new opportunities for travelers, businesses, and tourism stakeholders across the Silk Road region.

The meeting reflects the growing partnership between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and their shared vision of using tourism as a bridge for cultural understanding, economic cooperation, and regional integration.
