COTHM Pakistan launched the first day of its six-day Job Readiness Program with a focused session on professional grooming, career planning, workplace etiquette, CV writing, interview preparation, and current market expectations.
Led by the COTHM Placement Team, the opening day was designed to help students understand that becoming job-ready involves much more than technical expertise. Professional appearance, workplace behaviour, communication, confidence, and a clear career direction are equally important elements of successful career development.
The session combined practical activities with interactive learning to give students a better understanding of professional expectations. Grooming demonstrations highlighted the importance of personal presentation and maintaining an appropriate professional appearance in the workplace, particularly within the hospitality and service industries.
A key activity, “My Career Roadmap,” encouraged participants to think strategically about their professional journey. Students were guided to identify their career goals, consider the steps required to achieve them, and develop a clearer understanding of the skills and experiences they need to progress towards their desired careers.
Professional etiquette was also explored through role plays and practical scenarios. These activities helped students understand appropriate workplace behaviour, communication, confidence, and professional conduct in different situations. The interactive format encouraged participants to apply the concepts rather than simply learn them theoretically.
The program also placed significant emphasis on CV development and interview preparation. Students reviewed common CV mistakes and learned about the expectations employers increasingly consider during recruitment. Interview preparation activities helped participants reflect on how they communicate their skills, experience, strengths, and career aspirations to potential employers.
Market awareness formed another important part of the session. Students were encouraged to understand changing recruitment trends and recognize the importance of aligning their skills and professional presentation with the expectations of today’s employers.
