COTHM Pakistan has commenced its six-day Job Readiness Program, with Day 1 focusing on professional grooming, career planning and workplace etiquette. The opening session was organised to help students understand the importance of preparing themselves for professional environments beyond technical and academic knowledge.
Led by the Placement Team at COTHM, the session provided students with practical guidance on the essential elements of workplace readiness. Participants explored professional grooming, career planning, hospitality etiquette, CV writing, interview preparation and awareness of current market expectations.
The session highlighted that being job-ready involves more than possessing technical skills. Professional appearance, workplace behaviour, communication, confidence and a clear understanding of career goals can also play an important role in making a positive impression during recruitment and professional interactions.
As part of the activities, students participated in “My Career Roadmap,” an exercise designed to encourage them to identify their career interests, goals and possible pathways. The activity helped participants think more clearly about where they want to progress professionally and what steps may be required to reach their objectives.
The programme also featured practical etiquette role plays, allowing students to explore workplace situations and understand appropriate professional behaviour. These activities encouraged participants to consider how communication, manners, body language and professional conduct can influence their interactions within the workplace.
CV development was another key component of Day 1. Students were guided through common CV mistakes and received insights into improving the presentation of their qualifications, skills and experience. The session also introduced participants to current hiring expectations, helping them better understand what employers may look for when reviewing candidates.
The practical nature of the session transformed everyday concepts such as grooming and etiquette into professional workplace standards. Students were encouraged to view personal presentation and professional conduct as important elements of their overall career preparation.
The opening day also marked the beginning of a broader learning journey. Over the six-day programme, students will continue to develop the knowledge, confidence and professional skills needed to navigate recruitment processes and transition into the workplace.
Through initiatives such as the Job Readiness Program, COTHM continues to support students in connecting their academic and technical learning with employability, professional development and career planning.
Day 1 set the foundation for the programme by encouraging students to look beyond qualifications and start building a complete professional identity for their future careers.
