Pakistan’s young culinary talent Mohid Mehboob has returned home after representing the country in the Cooking trade at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, marking an important milestone in his professional journey and international skills experience.

A student of COTHM Pakistan, Mohid competed at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, where young professionals and skilled competitors from around the world gathered to demonstrate their abilities across a wide range of trades. His participation placed Pakistani culinary skills on an international platform and provided valuable exposure to global standards of professional cooking.

Mohid’s journey to Shanghai followed a competitive progression through the Inter-School, Inter-Province and National levels, eventually earning him the opportunity to represent Pakistan in Cooking at the international competition.

His preparation involved months of intensive training focused on technical precision, consistency, time management, presentation and performance under pressure. The experience in Shanghai further exposed him to international competition standards and the working discipline expected at the highest levels of skills competitions.

Beyond the competition kitchen, Mohid also carried an element of Pakistani culinary identity to the global stage. He highlighted traditional flavours and dishes associated with Pakistan, including garam masala, karahi and biryani, demonstrating how culinary skills can also serve as a means of cultural representation.

His return to Pakistan marks the beginning of a new chapter following an experience that combined competition, learning and international exposure. The WorldSkills journey has given the young chef an opportunity to further develop his professional skills while gaining a broader understanding of the global culinary industry.

Mohid’s homecoming also highlights the growing importance of skills-based education, international exposure and industry-focused training in preparing young Pakistanis for global professional opportunities.
