World delegates cherish Gandhara Heritage durinag the 1st International Winter School on Gandharan Buddhism

A group of 40 international scholars and researchers from 14 countries including United States, Germany, Italy, France, Japan, and China along with 20 plus Pakistani scholars are presently visiting Pakistan to participate in the 1st International Winter School on Gandharan Buddhism. This event is jointly organized by Woodenfish Foundation, Taxila Institute of Asian Civilization, WAKSAW-Uddiyana Archaeological Alliance with the support of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and KP Department of Archaeology and Museums.

Aftab Rana, Managing Director PTDC, graced the opening ceremony of 1st International Winter School on Gandharan Buddhism as a guest of honour. He warmly welcomed the participants of this international event and gave an inspirational talk on the rich Gandhara heritage of Pakistan. Over the ten days, participants explored iconic Buddhist sites at Taxila, Peshawar, Mardan and Swat, gaining hands-on excavation experiences and gaining insights from lectures delivered by the experts in the field from both Pakistan and the West. Beyond the academic program, the participants are also experiencing the vibrant local culture and traditional local hospitality.
