Ahmad Shafiq Pioneers Pakistani Cuisine Week and National Cuisine Day

Founder & President of Chefs’ Association of Pakistan, Ahmad Shafiq, has made history by formally elevating Pakistani cuisine through the establishment of Pakistani Cuisine Week and the annual Pakistani Cuisine Day, celebrated every year on 20th November.

For the first time in Pakistan, the rich culinary heritage of the nation has been given a structured national platform. Through Ahmad Shafiq’s visionary leadership, these initiatives celebrate regional flavors, traditional recipes, and the cultural stories behind Pakistan’s diverse food landscape.

No other figure in Pakistan’s culinary history has institutionalized a nationwide celebration dedicated exclusively to promoting local cuisine. These initiatives not only revive traditional culinary practices but also position Pakistani cuisine as a global culinary brand, promoting tourism, cultural diplomacy, and professional opportunities for chefs and students.

Ahmad Shafiq emphasizes that Pakistani cuisine is more than food—it reflects the nation’s history, geography, and identity. Pakistani Cuisine Week and Cuisine Day provide chefs, culinary students, and professionals a platform to research, reinterpret, and proudly showcase indigenous dishes to both national and international audiences.

The celebrations, held across COTHM campuses and partner institutions, feature cooking demonstrations, heritage food festivals, regional cuisine exhibitions, and educational discussions. These efforts document traditional recipes, encourage innovation rooted in local flavors, and inspire a new generation to embrace Pakistani cuisine as a source of pride.

With Pakistani Cuisine Day on 20th November, Ahmad Shafiq’s initiative continues to strengthen Pakistan’s culinary identity, ensuring that its flavors are preserved, celebrated, and shared with the world.
