COTHM’s Female Chefs Represent Pakistan at Samarkand Pilaf Festival 2025

From 1st to 3rd August 2025, the historic city of Samarkand in Uzbekistan will host the prestigious Samarkand Pilaf Festival 2025, an international celebration of culinary heritage centered around one of the world’s most iconic dishes—Pilaf. Representing Pakistan at this vibrant festival are two exceptional female home chefs, Amina Basit and Sadaf Waseem, proud students of the College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM).

The Samarkand Pilaf Festival 2025 brings together top chefs from various countries to present their traditional interpretations of pilaf, showcasing unique flavors, techniques, and cultural influences. Pakistan’s delegation, led by Amina and Sadaf, will spotlight the country’s rich and aromatic rice-based dishes such as Sindhi Biryani, Yakhni Pulao, and Kabuli Pulao, each reflecting the diversity and depth of Pakistani cuisine.

This representation is a major step forward in highlighting the talent of Pakistani women in gastronomy and promoting the country’s vibrant food culture globally. It also reflects the strength of institutions like COTHM, which has been at the forefront of culinary and hospitality education in Pakistan. Through its internationally recognized programs and hands-on training, COTHM continues to produce skilled professionals who are making their mark across the world.

By participating in the Samarkand Pilaf Festival 2025, COTHM not only supports cultural exchange through food but also reinforces its mission to build a globally recognized, skilled culinary workforce from Pakistan.

Amina Basit and Sadaf Waseem are not just representing recipes—they are carrying the essence of Pakistani culture, tradition, and hospitality to an international audience.
