In the times of Covid-19, any good news in the field of hospitality and tourism even a small one seems big as the industry has been having a bad time for over two years now. Last month, we got a news about relaxation in travel advisory for Pakistan by the US. The US has shifted Pakistan from level four to level three that says that Pakistan has been upgraded from “no travel” to “avoid unnecessary travels”. Although it is not a major change but still it is a notable improvement towards a tourist friendly environment.
The advisory say that “there are greater security resources and infrastructure in major cities, particularly Islamabad, and security forces in these areas may be more readily able to respond to an emergency compared to other areas of the country.”
Since 2014, the security situation in Pakistan has been improving due to the grand military operation against the militants. In the current circumstances, even due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the ease in travel advisory by the US is good omen. If used properly by the government, this step can be better used at other international fronts as well. Where it can help Pakistan come out of the grey list, it can also be a green signal for international sports teams to play in Pakistan.
With the help of the step taken by the US, Pakistan can ask other countries too to revise their policies about Pakistan as it is a safer and secure country even in the times of Covid-19. World institutions have also praised Pakistan for its prompt response to curb the spread of Covid-19. So, this is the high time when Pakistan can invite the world community to a safe, secure and loveable place.
