Education is essentially needed to be a contributing citizen and to be a contributing one, it is very important that education we get has some purpose. In the developed countries, education has become a purposeful process that transforms an individual’s life by making him/her useful for the society. That concept of getting education for the sake of education has been discarded in these countries long ago because everybody there has realised that education is directly related to the livelihood of the individuals.

Here in Pakistan, we also need to understand this point that if we want to lead a comfortable life with a reasonable livelihood, we need to switch from general education to skilled education; education with purpose. The universities in Pakistan are producing a big number of graduates in general education subjects every year without any planning resulting into the saturation of jobs and opportunities in those fields. That is why unemployment is spreading in our country and it is increasing day by day.

On the other hand, skilled education is still considered as a lower-stream educational track that does not lead the individuals to executive jobs. This is very misleading as skilled education basically trains the students for business and start-up opportunities. This exposure towards skilled education prepares the individuals for even bigger and better projects and ventures in future. People out there must understand this fact that skilled education is much more rewarding than general education and promises a future full of opportunities.

The government of Pakistan should also come with some better strategy to introduce our youth to the skilled education. This will not only add a purpose to their education but will also combat the increasing unemployment in the country.
