PESHAWAR – In a significant move to enhance railway infrastructure and promote tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met with Federal Minister for Railways Hanif Abbasi on Thursday.
The meeting focused on upgrading the province’s railway system, boosting travel facilities, and encouraging tourism, particularly through the revival of the historic Safari Train between Peshawar and Landi Kotal in district Khyber. The restoration of this iconic train aims to attract both local and international tourists to the scenic Khyber region.
Ahmad Karim Kundi, the parliamentary leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party in the KP Assembly, also participated in the discussions.
Governor Kundi highlighted the importance of converting the Peshawar to Karachi railway route into a model travel corridor that provides safe, efficient, and high-quality services to the public. He stressed that modernizing railway operations would contribute substantially to KP’s economic development.
Minister Abbasi assured the Governor of concrete measures being undertaken to improve train services, including punctuality, cleanliness, and passenger comfort. He also accepted an invitation to visit Peshawar soon for further evaluation and planning of railway projects, especially the Safari Train.
