Expo 2020 that is a World Expo and will be hosted by Dubai in the United Arab Emirates from October 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022 has become talk of the town now. The expo was originally scheduled for October 20, 2020 to 10 April 2021 but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Almost the whole world has participated in the expo in some or the other way. Those who have visited the site must have seen that Pakistan Pavilion has also been arranged at the expo where the whole world can see and experience Pakistani products and culture.
So far, as per my knowledge, brands and companies reached out to the expo management on their own to display their products and services there and no government support was offered to them in any way.
As this is a big event and people from across the globe are becoming a part of it, Pakistani government must use this expo for its own benefits and to spread a good word of mouth about the country.
The government should officially brand and market its hospitality and tourism potential at the expo and also send local companies to display and sell their products there. As it is a six-month show and the whole world is witnessing the active participation of the countries in it, Pakistan must make a better use of this situation and present itself as a lucrative destination for the world tourists.
Even now, if the government announces any support for the local companies to be a part of the expo, a large number of companies would be ready to represent their country there. This will not only send a positive message to the world community, but also create opportunities for Pakistanis to visit and sell their products in other participating countries. This will also help the government overcome the financial setback caused by the Covid-19 outbreak.
