The Pakistan Tourism, Sports & Family Festival 2026 concluded today on a high note at the Jinnah Sports Complex, Islamabad, marking a vibrant celebration of sports, culture, and family entertainment. The two-day mega event was organized by the Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC) in collaboration with the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC), Provincial Tourism Departments, and key public and private sector stakeholders.
The second day of the festival featured a series of energetic sports activities, with a fun marathon and a four-kilometer cycling event emerging as major highlights. Both competitions attracted enthusiastic participation from people of all ages and backgrounds. Cash prizes of Rs 10,000 were awarded to the winners, promoting healthy lifestyles, fitness, and community engagement through sports.
Throughout the day, visitors enjoyed a wide range of attractions, including tourism and provincial pavilions, live cooking demonstrations, cultural exhibitions, family and children’s activities, food stalls, painting competitions, an army band performance, wall rock climbing, adventure base camp activities, street curling, paragliding, hot air ballooning, and a vintage car display. These activities drew large crowds and created a festive atmosphere across the venue.
In the evening, the audience was treated to colorful cultural and musical performances representing various regions of Pakistan. The festival concluded with a grand musical concert followed by a spectacular fireworks display, which illuminated the Islamabad skyline and marked a memorable close to the celebrations. A large audience witnessed the closing ceremony, reflecting the event’s strong public appeal.
Federal Minister for Railways Mr. Haneef Abbasi, who attended the closing ceremony, appreciated the efforts of Mr. Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan and the PTDC team, noting that this was the first time such a large-scale tourism, sports, and family festival had been organized in Islamabad. He added that the event was held on the directions of the Prime Minister and demonstrated the Government’s firm commitment to promoting tourism and family-oriented recreational activities.
Mr. Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, National Coordinator to the Prime Minister on Tourism, stated that the festival highlighted Pakistan’s immense potential as a family-friendly, vibrant, and welcoming tourism destination, underscored by strong public participation and cultural diversity.
Mr. Mohyuddin Ahmad Wani, Secretary, Ministry of Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), remarked that the successful execution of the festival was the result of effective inter-ministerial coordination and collective efforts by all stakeholders, contributing significantly to domestic tourism promotion and social cohesion.
Mr. Aftab-ur-Rehman Rana, Managing Director PTDC, expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the festival and said PTDC was proud to facilitate and coordinate this landmark event, the first of its kind in Islamabad. He thanked the public for the overwhelming response and noted that the large turnout reflected a growing interest in tourism-led recreational initiatives.
