Pakistan’s Gastronomical Identity Shines Globally: Ahmad Shafiq

Ahmad Shafiq, Founder/President, and CEO of the College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM), has reaffirmed that “Pakistan possesses its own unique gastronomical identity and cuisine that distinguishes it on the global culinary map.”

Highlighting the richness of Pakistani food heritage, Shafiq emphasized that the country’s cuisine is not only deeply rooted in centuries-old traditions but is also celebrated worldwide through renowned restaurants operated by the Pakistani diaspora. Internationally acclaimed names such as,

Lahore Village (London)

Bundoo Khan (Dubai & Chicago)

Karachi boys (Toronto)

Lahore Karahi (London)

Student Biryani (Dubai)

These have become ambassadors of Pakistan’s diverse flavors, introducing global audiences to authentic Pakistani tastes.

He noted that the blend of aromatic spices, traditional cooking methods, and regional diversity gives Pakistani food its distinct identity, which resonates with both locals and international food lovers. According to Shafiq, the growing presence of Pakistani restaurants abroad stands as a testament to the cuisine’s universal appeal.

“From the vibrant streets of Karachi to the bustling avenues of London and Dubai, Pakistani cuisine is carving its place on the world stage. It is our responsibility to celebrate, preserve, and promote this rich culinary heritage,” Shafiq added.

COTHM, under his leadership, continues to play a pioneering role in promoting Pakistan’s hospitality and gastronomy sectors, equipping future chefs and hospitality leaders to carry this legacy forward.
