COTHM Media Team Enhances Skills Through Professional Photography Workshop

The College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) reinforced its commitment to professional development this week by hosting an intensive photography workshop for its media department, made possible through the generous sponsorship of Nikon Corporation.

Led by a certified Nikon expert, the full-day session combined theory with extensive hands-on practice. Participants explored advanced camera settings, lighting techniques, composition fundamentals, and post-production workflows, using both DSLR and mirrorless systems provided by Nikon for the occasion.

Throughout the training, the instructor highlighted specific strengths already evident in COTHM’s visual content while pinpointing areas for refinement—insights that resonated strongly with attendees. An energetic Q&A segment saw team members, including senior staff, probe deeper into topics such as low-light shooting, speed-editing for social platforms, and storytelling through sequential imagery.

The practical component placed cameras directly in participants’ hands. Under the trainer’s close guidance, the media team executed controlled shoots, experimenting with aperture, shutter speed, and creative angles to capture signature COTHM scenes around campus.

“Our media unit is passionate about showcasing student achievements and institutional milestones,” said, Fraaz . “Partnering with a global leader like Nikon ensures we stay at the forefront of visual communication.”

The workshop concluded with a token-of-appreciation ceremony, during which Nikon presented branded accessories to each participant. A group photograph—aptly shot with newly honed skills—captured the collaborative spirit that defined the event.

COTHM plans to integrate the workshop’s key takeaways into upcoming projects, reinforcing the institute’s reputation for high-quality media coverage across Pakistan’s hospitality and culinary education sectors.
