Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, has been awarded the Turkish Armed Forces’ Top Military Service Medal during his official visit to Ankara, in recognition of his significant contribution to strengthening defence cooperation and strategic military relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.

The prestigious military decoration was presented as part of Field Marshal Munir’s two-day official visit, during which he is holding high-level meetings with Türkiye’s senior military and political leadership to discuss regional security, defence collaboration, military cooperation, and other matters of mutual interest.

The award reflects the deep-rooted friendship and longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye, whose armed forces have maintained close cooperation in defence training, military exchanges, counterterrorism, and defence production over the years.

Officials said the honour recognizes Field Marshal Asim Munir’s leadership and his role in further enhancing bilateral military relations while promoting closer strategic coordination between the two brotherly nations.

According to reports, Field Marshal Asim Munir has become the only serving military leader to receive the highest military honours from more than 10 countries, underscoring his growing international recognition and the respect he commands among global defence establishments.

The visit is expected to further strengthen defence diplomacy between Pakistan and Türkiye, opening new avenues for cooperation in military modernization, joint training, regional security, and strategic partnerships.

Pakistan and Türkiye continue to enjoy close diplomatic, political, and defence ties, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to expanding collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest.
