Food safety is a critical component of hospitality education, particularly for students preparing for careers in culinary arts, baking and patisserie, food production and food and beverage operations. Practical exposure to food safety procedures helps learners understand how hygiene protocols can be applied in real-world working environments.

COTHM Garden Town continues to emphasize food safety awareness, professional training and hands-on learning as part of its efforts to prepare future hospitality professionals for industry requirements. Its Food Safety Lab provides a setting for developing an understanding of safe food handling and the procedures that support hygienic food preparation.
Chef Gilles Renusson’s visit also drew attention to the close relationship between culinary excellence and food safety. While creativity, flavour and presentation are central to pastry and culinary arts, consistent hygiene practices and quality control remain fundamental to professional food production.

The visit reinforced the importance of integrating food safety education into hospitality training and promoting a culture of responsibility across the food service sector.
