Austrian Ambassador Meets KP Governor to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Tourism Promotion

The Austrian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andrea Wicke, met with Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi at the Governor House on Wednesday to discuss a range of issues concerning bilateral cooperation and regional development.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on mutual interests, including bilateral ties between Austria and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, tourism development, and collaboration in sports initiatives. The evolving situation in Afghanistan and matters of regional peace and security also featured in the discussions.

Governor Kundi highlighted the vast tourism potential of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in its northern districts, which he described as offering some of the most attractive travel destinations in the world. He extended an invitation to international companies to explore investment opportunities in the province’s tourism sector, emphasizing the region’s natural beauty, historical richness, and cultural diversity.

He reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to harnessing local resources for the social and economic uplift of its people.

Ambassador Wicke praised the courage and resilience of Pakistan’s security forces and police in their efforts to combat terrorism. She expressed Austria’s interest in enhancing collaboration with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, particularly in the tourism sector, through joint initiatives and exchange programs.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties recognizing the importance of strengthened diplomatic and economic ties to ensure sustainable development and regional stability.
