COTHM celebrates Azaadi Festival with patriotic spirit and culinary flair

College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) proudly celebrated Pakistan’s Independence Day with an exuberant Azaadi Festival at its head office. The event, brimming with patriotic fervor, was graced by the presence of senior journalist Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, who joined as the Chief Guest. The festival was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Nestlé Professional as the title sponsor, with Cheezious and Haier joining as activity partners.

The festivities commenced with a grand parade led by COTHM CEO Ahmad Shafiq, Mujeeb ur Rehman Shami, and other distinguished guests. This was followed by a symbolic release of pigeons and balloons, a ceremonial flag hoisting, and a tree plantation drive, all reflecting the spirit of freedom and environmental stewardship. The national anthem echoed through the venue as participants stood in unity, culminating in a celebratory cake-cutting ceremony.

Students of COTHM showcased their talents through a series of performances including tablos, speeches, and skits that highlighted the significance of Independence Day. The event also featured two exciting competitions – the Youm-e-Azadi Cake Decoration competition and the Cook Green competition – where students demonstrated their culinary creativity and passion.

In a quiz program held during the festival, students who answered correctly were rewarded with gifts sponsored by Cheezious. Adding to the event’s green initiative, Cheezious generously provided plants for the plantation drive, reinforcing the importance of environmental sustainability.

Speaking on the occasion, CEO Ahmad Shafiq expressed his gratitude to the sponsors and participants, emphasizing the importance of such events in developing a sense of national pride and community spirit. He also lauded the students for their enthusiastic participation and creativity.
