Day 5 of the COTHM Job Readiness Program focused on personal hygiene, professional appearance, social media handling and LinkedIn profile development, helping students strengthen the personal and digital skills required for modern hospitality workplaces.
The session was conducted with guidance from the Hygiene/Food Safety Trainer and COTHM Marketing Team, combining workplace hygiene standards with practical lessons on professional digital presence.

Students explored essential personal hygiene practices, including oral hygiene, body-odour control, hand hygiene and proper uniform care. The session highlighted how personal appearance and hygiene contribute to workplace professionalism, guest confidence and service standards, particularly in the hospitality industry.
The second part of the session focused on social media and LinkedIn excellence. Students were guided on responsible social media handling and the importance of maintaining a professional online presence. They also learned how to develop and improve their LinkedIn profiles to support professional networking and increase visibility among recruiters and potential employers.

The session emphasised that professional image extends beyond the physical workplace. In an increasingly digital employment environment, an individual’s online presence can influence employer perception and create opportunities for professional networking and career development.
Through practical guidance and interactive learning, participants gained a better understanding of how personal hygiene, workplace appearance and digital professionalism work together to shape their overall professional identity.
Day 5 of the Job Readiness Program reinforced COTHM’s focus on preparing students for real-world employment by developing both workplace and career-readiness skills. The session equipped participants with practical tools to present themselves more confidently and professionally, both offline and online.
