Pakistan’s culinary talent reached an international skills platform as COTHM student Mohid Mehboob represented the country in Cooking at WorldSkills Shanghai 2026, joining young professionals from around the world at the 48th WorldSkills Competition.

The competition was held in Shanghai from 22 to 27 September 2026 and featured 64 skill competitions. Pakistan’s delegation included Mohid Mehboob in Cooking, Mudassir Hussain in Electrical Installation and Nabeed ul Arfeen Memon in Graphic Design Technology.

Mohid’s place at the international competition followed a progression through Inter-School, Inter-Province and National-level culinary competitions. COTHM describes him as Pakistan’s only representative in the Culinary Arts category at Shanghai 2026.

His participation represented a significant step in his competitive culinary career. Before travelling to Shanghai, Mohid underwent approximately six months of continuous preparation and training, including guidance from German experts, according to APP.

The competition provided an international environment in which young professionals could demonstrate their technical skills while gaining exposure to different approaches, working standards and professional cultures. APP reported that Pakistani competitors viewed the event not only as a competition but also as an opportunity to measure their abilities against international peers and gain experience for their future careers.

For Mohid, the experience also carried a cultural dimension. He discussed Pakistani spices and traditional dishes such as karahi and biryani as ways of introducing Pakistan’s culinary identity to international audiences.

From national-level competition to the WorldSkills stage, Mohid’s participation represents a new chapter in his culinary development and provides an example of how structured skills competitions can connect young professionals with international platforms.
