Pakistan’s domestic aviation sector has welcomed a new entrant as South Air officially launched its inaugural passenger flights from Karachi, marking the beginning of commercial operations and expanding travel options for passengers across the country.
The airline has commenced scheduled services on two key domestic routes: Karachi to Quetta via Turbat and Karachi to Islamabad via Bahawalpur. The new services are expected to improve regional connectivity while providing travelers with greater convenience and enhanced access to underserved destinations.
According to the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), the launch of South Air’s operations is anticipated to strengthen domestic air travel, promote tourism, facilitate business and trade, and improve transportation links between major cities and regional hubs.
South Air stated that the new routes represent the first phase of its expansion strategy. The airline plans to further extend its domestic network by introducing services to Peshawar, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Gwadar, enhancing connectivity across Pakistan and supporting the country’s growing aviation sector.
Industry experts believe the arrival of a new domestic carrier will increase competition, improve passenger choice, and contribute to the continued development of Pakistan’s aviation industry through expanded route networks and improved accessibility.
The launch marks an important milestone for South Air as it begins its journey to provide reliable, affordable, and efficient domestic air travel while supporting Pakistan’s tourism and economic development objectives.
