UVAS observes world food safety day

To raise awareness about the importance of food safety, The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) in partnership with the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) here on Thursday hosted a nationwide seminar to commemorate World Food Safety Day with the subject “Safer Food, Better Health”.

The seminar was co-chaired by UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and PFA Director General Muhammad Shoaib Khan Jadoon, with experts from the public and private sectors, various organisations, faculty members, and a large number of students in attendance. Chairman Department of Food Sciences Dr Sanaullah Iqbal, Additional Director General Technical (PFA) Ghulam Mustafa Dogar, and experts from the public and private sector, various organisations, faculty members, and a large of students were present at the occasion.

UVAS VC Prof Dr Nasim Ahmed said that it was a welcome contribution and a sign that the government was paying attention to food safety. He claims that having a strong understanding of world food safety day might help people avoid and recognise illnesses that are frequently caused by consuming dangerous foods. “Every consumer, food handler, and regulator has a responsibility to contribute to tackling food safety challenges,” he added.
