Pakistan’s aviation sector is set to welcome a new player as South Air, a newly established private airline, has officially announced the launch of its domestic flight operations. The move is expected to enhance regional connectivity, improve travel convenience, and support economic activity across key destinations in the country.
According to the airline, regular scheduled flights will commence on July 9, 2026, initially connecting Karachi, Gwadar, and Quetta through a structured weekly flight schedule.
Under the announced timetable, Karachi–Gwadar flights will operate every Thursday, while Saturdays will feature a three-city rotation connecting Karachi, Gwadar, and Quetta, offering passengers greater flexibility and improved access to Balochistan and Pakistan’s coastal region.
The launch represents a significant step toward expanding domestic air travel options, particularly for travelers, business communities, government officials, and tourists seeking faster and more efficient transportation between southern Pakistan’s major commercial and strategic cities.
Industry observers believe the new services will help strengthen connectivity to Gwadar, a city of growing economic importance due to its strategic port and ongoing development projects. Improved air links are also expected to facilitate tourism, encourage investment, and support commercial activities throughout the region.
The addition of a new private airline reflects the continued growth and diversification of Pakistan’s aviation industry, offering passengers more travel choices while encouraging healthy competition within the domestic aviation market.
Officials believe enhanced regional connectivity will contribute to economic development, improve accessibility for remote areas, and create new opportunities for tourism and trade, particularly in Balochistan.
With its entry into the market, South Air aims to provide reliable, efficient, and convenient domestic air services while supporting Pakistan’s broader efforts to modernize its transportation infrastructure and strengthen regional integration.
