CAP President Ahmad Shafiq represents Pakistan at Worldchefs Congress & Expo 2026 in Wales

Pakistan made a notable presence at the 41st biennial World Association of Chefs’ Societies Congress & Expo 2026, held in Newport, Wales, from May 16–19, as a delegation led by Ahmad Shafiq actively represented the country at one of the world’s most prestigious culinary gatherings.

The global event brought together leading chefs, culinary educators, hospitality professionals, food innovators, and industry leaders from across the world under the theme “Pasture, Passion, Plate.” The Congress marked a historic occasion as it was hosted in the United Kingdom for the first time in the organization’s 98-year history.

Representing Pakistan and the Chefs Association of Pakistan (CAP), Ahmad Shafiq participated in networking forums, industry discussions, professional exchange sessions, and various activities aimed at strengthening global culinary collaboration and professional development.

Accompanying him during the international event were Mian Shahid Mehmood, Secretary General of CAP, and Usaid Ahmad, Operations Head of College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM) Karachi. The Pakistani delegation engaged with chefs, hospitality institutions, and culinary organizations from different countries to promote Pakistan’s culinary talent, hospitality education, and tourism potential.

Speaking during the Congress, Ahmad Shafiq termed Pakistan’s participation an important step towards strengthening the country’s presence in the global culinary community. “Worldchefs Congress is one of the most influential platforms for chefs and hospitality professionals worldwide. Representing Pakistan here is a matter of pride for us. We are committed to promoting Pakistani culinary talent, hospitality education, and cultural richness at international forums,” said Ahmad Shafiq.

He further emphasized that Pakistan possesses immense culinary diversity and untapped tourism potential which deserve stronger international recognition. “Pakistan’s cuisine reflects centuries of culture, tradition, and regional diversity. Through platforms like Worldchefs Congress, we aim to build stronger international connections and create opportunities for young chefs and hospitality professionals from Pakistan,” he added.

The delegation also observed various international culinary competitions, including the Global Chefs Challenge Finals, where world-class chefs showcased innovation, creativity, and technical excellence. Meetings with international delegates and culinary leaders focused on future collaborations, chef exchange opportunities, culinary education, and participation in upcoming global events.

The Congress also featured keynote sessions by globally recognized chefs, including Marco Pierre White, along with exhibitions displaying the latest innovations and trends in the food and beverage industry.

Pakistan’s active participation in the international event was viewed as a positive development for the country’s hospitality and culinary sectors, reflecting growing efforts by CAP and College of Tourism and Hotel Management (COTHM) to connect Pakistani chefs and students with global industry platforms.

The participation of the Pakistani delegation further reinforced the country’s commitment to professional excellence, international engagement, and the promotion of Pakistani cuisine on the world stage.
