British Gardener Sets Two Guinness World Records in a Single Day

A British amateur gardener has achieved a remarkable feat by setting two Guinness World Records in a single day after growing an exceptionally large elephant garlic and a record-breaking snow pea.

According to international media reports, Graham Barrett, from Gloucestershire, England, presented his prize-winning produce for official assessment at the Wargrave Plant Centre in Berkshire on June 25.

During the evaluation, Barrett’s elephant garlic weighed an astonishing 3 pounds 13.7 ounces (approximately 1.75 kilograms) and measured 7.5 inches in diameter, earning him the Guinness World Record for the heaviest elephant garlic ever recorded.

Elephant garlic, despite its name, belongs to the leek family and is known for producing much larger bulbs than conventional garlic while offering a milder flavor.

On the same day, Barrett secured a second Guinness World Record when his Swedish variety snow pea weighed 0.98 ounces (around 28 grams), making it the world’s heaviest snow pea ever officially recorded.

The dual achievement highlights Barrett’s exceptional gardening expertise and dedication to cultivating record-breaking produce. His accomplishment has attracted international attention, showcasing how passion, patience, and innovative growing techniques can lead to extraordinary results.

The rare feat of earning two Guinness World Records in a single day places Graham Barrett among a select group of gardening enthusiasts whose achievements have been officially recognized on the global stage.
