The session featured Abdul Samad, Manager Training and Development at Chunk n Cheese, as the primary industry guest speaker at COTHM . He shared practical insights with COTHM students about real workplace conditions, employer expectations, career growth, and the professional standards required to succeed in the hospitality industry.
The interactive session explored important aspects of professional life, including shift-based work culture, commitment, punctuality, time management, flexibility, and workplace ethics. Students were also introduced to employer screening criteria and the expectations organizations have when hiring fresh professionals.

Participants gained a realistic understanding of career growth timelines and the demands associated with working during shifts, weekends, and public holidays. The session helped bridge the gap between students’ expectations of a career and the realities of the hospitality industry.
A special activity, “A Day in My Shoes,” encouraged students to discuss the challenges of balancing personal life with a shift-based professional career. The activity created an opportunity for students to reflect on the importance of adaptability, discipline, and commitment in demanding work environments.

The Industry Immersion Day provided students with firsthand exposure to the expectations of employers and highlighted the importance of developing a strong professional attitude before entering the job market.
Through practical discussions and industry insights, Day 3 of the Job Readiness Program equipped COTHM students with a clearer understanding of what it takes to build and sustain a successful career in the hospitality industry.
