Punjab Launches Historic Land Distribution Programme for 30,000 Landless Farmers

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has officially inaugurated a landmark initiative aimed at empowering landless farmers by allotting 121,000 acres of state-owned cultivable land to 30,000 deserving families across the province.

Described as one of the largest land distribution programmes in Punjab’s history, the initiative seeks to improve the livelihoods of rural communities by providing land ownership opportunities to farmers who previously had little or no access to agricultural land.

Under the programme, eligible beneficiaries will receive cultivable land to help increase agricultural productivity, promote self-reliance, and generate sustainable sources of income. Officials believe the initiative will strengthen food security while contributing to the long-term development of Punjab’s agricultural sector.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed the provincial government’s commitment to supporting farmers through practical reforms and inclusive development policies. She said empowering small and landless farmers remains a key priority, as agriculture continues to play a vital role in Punjab’s economy.

The initiative complements the government’s broader agricultural reforms, including the Kisan Card programme, interest-free agricultural loans, tractor subsidy schemes, and the promotion of modern farming techniques aimed at increasing productivity and improving farmers’ incomes.

Officials noted that the land allotment process has been designed to ensure transparency and fairness, enabling deserving beneficiaries to participate in the programme through an organized and accountable system.

The government expects the initiative to create new economic opportunities in rural areas, enhance agricultural output, reduce poverty, and improve the quality of life for thousands of farming families across Punjab.
