Pakistan, UK agree to enhance cooperation

Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to enhance cooperation in the areas of police training, extradition, immigration, and curbing human trafficking.

The understanding to this effect was reached during a meeting between Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Director General British National Crime Agency, Graeme Biggar in Islamabad today.

Early finalization of five MoUs for cooperation in extradition and other areas was also agreed in the meeting.

The two sides further agreed on enhancing cooperation in training courses for officers of various agencies, including the Anti-Narcotics Force and the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.

They also agreed to make effective coordination in combating online harassment of children.

The DG British National Crime Agency condemned the recent suicide attack in Islamabad and expressed grief over the loss of precious lives.

He appreciated Pakistan’s Narcotics Control efforts and said the UK is cooperating with the government of Pakistan in different fields.

Speaking on the occasion, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said Pakistan stands as an epitome of perseverance against terrorism across the world.

He said modern training and forensics can further enhance the capabilities of law enforcement agencies.
