Shehbaz Sharif has announced that May 10 will now be observed annually as “Marka-e-Haq Day” to commemorate Pakistan’s response during last year’s conflict with India and to honor the role of the country’s armed forces in safeguarding national sovereignty.
The announcement was made during a ceremony held at the Pakistan Monument marking the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. Addressing the gathering, the prime minister stated that Pakistan exercised restraint throughout the situation but delivered a strong and decisive response when required.
Shehbaz Sharif praised the professionalism, courage, and strategic leadership of Pakistan’s armed forces and military command, acknowledging their role in protecting national interests during a critical period.
He also highlighted the diplomatic support extended by friendly countries and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to peace, regional stability, and national security. The prime minister emphasized that while Pakistan seeks peaceful coexistence and dialogue, it remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The ceremony was attended by government officials, military representatives, diplomats, and members of civil society, reflecting national unity and remembrance associated with the occasion.
