The Punjab government has intensified its road safety campaign by introducing stricter enforcement against motorcyclists riding without helmets. Under the new measures, riders found violating helmet regulations may not only receive a traffic fine but also have their motorcycles impounded for one day.
The initiative is aimed at improving compliance with traffic laws, reducing road accidents, and enhancing the safety of motorcyclists across the province. Officials say helmets remain one of the most effective forms of protection against serious head injuries in traffic accidents.
In addition to the helmet crackdown, traffic authorities have stepped up action against lane discipline violations, urging motorists to follow designated lanes to improve traffic flow and reduce the risk of collisions.
To strengthen transparency and accountability, the Punjab government has also introduced a digital challan system that uses photo and video evidence to document traffic violations. Officials believe the technology-driven approach will ensure fair enforcement while minimizing disputes over traffic penalties.
Authorities have urged all road users to comply with traffic regulations, emphasizing that the campaign is focused on promoting responsible driving habits and creating safer roads for everyone.
The latest measures form part of Punjab’s broader strategy to modernize traffic management, encourage road safety awareness, and reduce preventable accidents through stricter enforcement and the use of digital technologies.
