The College of Tourism & Hotel Management (COTHM) Pakistan celebrated World Sandwich Day 2026 with an engaging culinary activity, bringing together creativity, practical learning, and a passion for food. The celebration provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their culinary abilities by preparing a diverse selection of sandwiches, showcasing their understanding of flavours, ingredients, presentation, and modern food preparation techniques.

The activity highlighted the versatility of sandwiches as an important part of international food culture and the food and beverage industry. From classic combinations to creative interpretations, students explored different ingredients, fillings, textures, and presentation styles to transform simple sandwich preparations into appealing culinary creations.

During the celebration, students actively participated in preparing and presenting their dishes, applying practical skills developed through their culinary education. The experience encouraged them to experiment with flavour combinations, understand ingredient compatibility, maintain consistency in food preparation, and pay attention to presentation standards.

World Sandwich Day also offered an opportunity to appreciate the sandwich’s place in global gastronomy. Recognised as one of the world’s most versatile and widely enjoyed food items, sandwiches have evolved beyond traditional recipes to become an essential feature of contemporary cafés, restaurants, hotels, catering services, and quick-service dining establishments.

For aspiring chefs and hospitality professionals, mastering such everyday culinary preparations is an important part of professional development. The activity reinforced the importance of creativity, food handling, kitchen discipline, teamwork, and attention to detail, all of which contribute to success in professional culinary environments.

At COTHM, practical learning remains an essential component of culinary education. Through interactive activities, themed celebrations, and hands-on kitchen experiences, students are encouraged to translate theoretical knowledge into practical expertise while developing the confidence required to work in the competitive hospitality and food service industry.

The World Sandwich Day celebration reflected COTHM’s commitment to nurturing emerging culinary talent and providing students with opportunities to explore international food trends while strengthening their professional capabilities.

The event concluded with an impressive display of student-prepared sandwiches, celebrating the creativity, dedication, and growing culinary expertise of the next generation of chefs.
