The Academy of Wellness, Nutrition & Food Safety celebrated World Food Day 2026 at COTHM Garden Town, Lahore, through educational displays, interactive activities and health awareness initiatives focused on food security, nutrition and sustainability.

The event highlighted the importance of access to safe and nutritious food while encouraging responsible consumption, healthier dietary choices and environmentally sustainable practices. Its activities supported several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including Zero Hunger (SDG 2), Good Health and Well-Being (SDG 3), Quality Education (SDG 4), and Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12).

A key feature was the Zero Food Waste Display, which promoted the principles of reducing, reusing and recycling. The activity encouraged participants to minimise food waste, use resources responsibly and recognise the importance of efficient food systems in addressing food insecurity.

The Build a Healthy Plate Display focused on balanced nutrition and informed dietary choices. It highlighted the importance of consuming a variety of nutritious foods and understanding how everyday eating habits contribute to overall well-being.

Another attraction was the Farm to Fork 3D Model, which illustrated the journey of food from agricultural production to consumers. The display drew attention to sustainable farming, transportation, storage and responsible food handling, highlighting the importance of reducing food loss and improving food-system efficiency.

The programme also featured a Bone Mineral Density (BMD) and Skin Analysis Camp, providing participants with opportunities to learn more about selected aspects of their health through screening and analysis. A Farm Fresh Eggs Display further highlighted food quality, nutrition awareness and informed dietary choices.

The celebration was attended by industry and academic representatives, including Mustajab Ahmad, Head of Production at Gourmet Foods Pakistan, Lahore, and Dr. Muhammad Sohaib, Associate Professor in the Department of Food Sciences and Human Nutrition at the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS), Lahore. Their participation brought professional perspectives on food production, nutrition, food systems and the development of healthier, more sustainable communities.

Participating brands and organisations included Dr. Harley’s, Apna Card, Cheezious, Cake O Clock and Farm Fresh Eggs.

The event also highlighted the role of education in addressing food-related challenges. Through interactive displays and awareness activities, participants were encouraged to develop practical knowledge of nutrition, food safety, food waste reduction and sustainable consumption.

The World Food Day celebration reflected the Academy of Wellness, Nutrition & Food Safety’s focus on promoting the SDGs through nutrition education, preventive health awareness, food safety and responsible food practices.

By connecting food education with sustainability, the event emphasised the shared responsibility of individuals, educational institutions and industry stakeholders to reduce waste, encourage healthier choices and support more sustainable food systems.
