The Punjab government has allocated Rs310 million for Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “She Threads Program,” a women-focused initiative aimed at enhancing skills, employment opportunities, and economic empowerment across the province.
According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s Office, women enrolled in the program will receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000, along with a transport allowance to facilitate their participation in training activities.
The program is open to middle-school educated women between the ages of 18 and 45 from rural areas across Punjab, providing them with an opportunity to gain market-relevant skills and improve their earning potential.
Under the She Threads Program, participants will receive training through 10 specialized courses related to the textile sector, one of Pakistan’s largest industries and a key contributor to employment and exports.
Training sessions are currently being conducted in several cities, including Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad, enabling women from different regions to access professional development opportunities closer to their communities.
The initiative reflects the Punjab government’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in the workforce, strengthening vocational education, and supporting inclusive economic growth through targeted skill development programs.
